At MVHS we believe education plays a key role in achieving our mission.

Shelter Tours

We offer shelter tours to school, scout, and community groups. During tours kids will:

  • Discuss an Education Topic (Pet Care & Safety, Pet Overpopulation, Animal Careers, Role of Humane Societies, and coming soon...Pet First Aid)
  • Tour the MVHS Shelter
  • Meet an Animal Ambassador Cost is $25 for up to 15 participants, and $1 for each additional. Tours can be scheduled Monday-Friday between Noon and 5pm, and last 45-60 minutes. We will do weekend tours upon request for groups of 10 or less kids for $35.

    Classroom Visits

    We visit classrooms to support educational curriculum; teachers may specify any topic in relation to MVHS and/or Companion Animals/Wildlife. Classroom visits may occur one or several times during the school year. Students will enjoy meeting one of our many Animal Ambassadors.

    Cost is $35 per visit (reduced rate for multiple visits). Classroom visits can typically be scheduled Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 10am and 3pm, and can last anywhere from 30-90 minutes.

    Shelter Helper Service Projects

    Shelter Helpers provide animals with new toys, blankets, or accessories; groups can also raise funds to help support our shelter. Any school, scout, or community group can participate.
