Animal Book Club

Kids Read to Dogs at MVHS' Animal Book Club - Hosted by Burnhaven Library

Animal Book Club 2009-2010!

Hey kids - Do you love animals?  Are you looking for a chance to get to know some new friends, new books and new dogs?!  Then Animal Book Club just might be for you.  Kids meet monthly for about an hour.  This year we will be opening the Animal Book Club to kids aged 2nd to 7th grade.  There will be two books to chose from each month - one book for younger readers and another more challenging book for the higher grade levels.  The first half of each meeting will give the kids a chance to talk about the book they read and share some of what they learned with the group.  During the second half of the program, the children will get their new book titles and will have the opportunity to read to one of MVHS's Ambassador Dogs. All assigned books have an animal theme, and are meant to encourage kids to read more and find joy in doing so.

Animal Book Club for the 2009-2010 school year will take place from 6:30-7:30pm the 1st Monday of each month October through May at the Burnhaven Library in Burnsville.  Our first meeting will be Monday, October 7 at  Burnhaven Library starting at 6:30pm.  Cost for the program is $35 per child for the school year.  Maximum program size is 20 kids, so register soon!  Pre-registration is required and is done on a first come-first served basis.  Registration forms and Liability Waivers are below.

PREREQUISITE:  Each child/family must have a Dakota County Library card and bring it with them to each monthly meeting.  Club kids will be checking out their books each month.

Please call or e-mail MVHS's Humane Educator, Jackie Pospisil, at 952-894-5000 x 22 or JackieP@MVHSpets.org for more information.
