Big Red and Other Animal Ambassadors

Lost and Found Information
We provide information to assist you find your lost pet and/or help prevent a loss.

Animal Abuse and Humane Investigations
To begin investigation of a problem, first report the abuse to your local animal control officer and see if they can handle the situation without our assistance. If you need further assistance, please call us for additional information.

Free ID Tags
If you live in the Twin Cities area, you can recieve a free ID tag by visiting the Minnesota Valley Humane Society. You can also purchase a personalized ID tag from our online store.

Hot Dog, Cool Cat, and Home Alone Cards
Do you know that the temperature inside a parked car can reach 160 degrees within minutes in the summer, even with the windows partially open?

MVHS is helping warn people of the danger to pets of heatstroke or death by providing "Hot Dog Cards." These bright red cards serve as a warning to keep pets at home on hot days. The cards are distributed to security personel at local shopping centers, animal control officers and are also available to the general public. Pick some up today. We also produce educational materials encouraging indoor-only cats.

Education for Pet Parents and Pets
The Minnesota Valley Humane Society offers the following classes to the community.
  • Canine U Obedience training for the family pet....taught by the experts at the Minnesota Valley Humane Society.
    Classes meet for one hour a week for 4-6 weeks.

  • Pet Parent Roundtable DiscussionsWe know that having a pet can sometimes be a struggle. These sessions are an opportunity for you to meet with our experts and discuss your pet's behavior and care.
    These classes are free and last approximately one hour.

  • CARE Seminars An in-depth look at common behavior problems and/or items of interest to pet lovers.
    Classes are approximately two hours long and are scheduled quarterly.

  • Behavior help is only a click away. We'll help you be a better pet parent with our online Fact Sheets, free classes.

Volunteer Activities
Over 180 volunteers donate time and talents to MVHS. Some help care for the animals, others help our program staff. Click here to learn more about volunteering at the Minnesota Valley Humane Society.

Adoption and Surrender
